History of Linden
Linden or Tilia is native throughout most of the Northern Hemisphere, and has been used for thousands of years for its medicinal health benefits. Originally it was mainly eaten raw to treat fevers, and eventually became a popular tea. Europeans believed it would cure epilepsy, and just by sitting under the tree a couple would fall in love, which is where it got its name “The Tree of Lovers.” The linden tree has been widely used throughout history by poets due to its beauty and grace, and was even a favorite wood during the Middle Ages for carvings and statues.
