Simple Hacks For a Healthier and Less Toxic Life

Unfortunately in today’s world we are faced with many challenges when trying to live and maintain a healthy lifestyle. For most of us, one of the most difficult challenges is trying to avoid all the toxins which ultimately lead to many, if not almost all of our health issues we face today. In fact, many people are completely unaware that on any given day, we are exposed to thousands of toxins and many of these can be found hiding. They hide in many things including our food, water, air, vaccines, medications, beauty and hygiene products, cleaning products, yard care products, pet products, clothing, bedding, carpeting, curtains, paints, candles, room fresheners, perfumes and cologne, plastics, certain metals, dental fillings, and so much more.

Luckily, there are many simple changes that we can make in order to lessen our exposure to many of these toxins. All’s you really need to know is where they hide and how to safely replace them or how to eliminate them completely from your lives. Obviously we cannot avoid all of the toxins in which we are exposed to, therefore it is also important to know how you can protect yourself the best you can. Our family began making changes a few years ago and it has made a huge difference in our health (both physically and mentally) and has opened our eyes to a whole new world. We have never felt better and are no longer sick all of the time.

Below we have discussed and categorized many simple changes you can make to live a healthier, less toxic life and we cannot stress enough that every little change you make definitely adds up and is well worth making. Unfortunately we are surrounded with thousands of toxins and there is no way to avoid them all completely so we have gone over the main culprits with feasible ways to avoid them.

Simple Hacks for Inside and Around the Home

  • Stop using toxic chemicals for cleaning!
Instead, you can easily make your own or purchase safe-natural brands that are completely free of any toxins. One very effective cleaning product you can use is Hydrogen Peroxide, just to name one of many safe cleaners, believe it or not. To learn about the benefits of using Hydrogen Peroxide and how to use Hydrogen Peroxide for cleaning and more, please click HERE. We suggest adding essential oils intended to kill germs as well.

Hydrogen Peroxide, Ravensara and Tea Tree Essential Oils

  • Just say no to your typical laundry detergents, softeners and dryer sheets!
The biggest polluters in the average home are our laundry products. Pretty much all of them are filled with hundreds, if not thousands, of toxic chemicals. You can’t avoid these toxins unless you make your own laundry detergents or purchase natural alternatives. You may also make or purchase wool dryer balls as a safe alternative to those pesky dryer sheets.

  • Say goodbye to toxic candles and say hello to 100% pure beeswax candles instead!
Traditional candles are literally nothing more than a by-product of petroleum refining and then they are labeled as a paraffin wax. Unfortunately these candles literally poison the air, whereas beeswax candles actually clean the air by trapping toxins with its negative ion charge. As we discussed in our article, “Why Everyone Should Switch to 100% Pure Beeswax Candles”, the truth is that typical candles are always toxic unless they are 100% pure beeswax candles that are either unscented, or ones that are scented using only 100% pure essential oils. To learn all about Why Everyone Should Switch to 100% Pure Beeswax Candles, you may click the link above or you may click HERE.

  • Stop spraying toxic air fresheners and toss those potpourris out! Utilize essential oils and herbs to freshen your home instead!
As with traditional candles, the truth is that air fresheners and potpourris are loaded with toxins as well. To make your own safe non-toxic air fresheners you can simply dilute essential oils in a spray bottle with some witch hazel. Viola, you have a non-toxic alternative that will also give you the benefits of aromatherapy! Choose the right essential oils and they’ll even help kill off germs in the house due to their antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, and antimicrobial properties! Although this method is great, most people prefer to add essential oils to an ultrasonic aromatherapy essential oil diffuser, or to a reed diffuser. In particular, if you choose to run an ultrasonic aromatherapy essential oil diffuser, your home will smell wonderful all while you reap the many amazing benefits of the essential oils. If you don’t want to do either of these methods, many people will simply boil fresh or dried herbs, cinnamon sticks, orange peels, lemon peels, and so on as a means of freshening the home as well. To view and purchase some of the best-selling aromatherapy essential oil diffusers, you may click HERE.

  • Say goodbye to plastic dishes and food containers!
BPA is not the only reason to despise plastic as they would like you to believe. Many people do not realize that even if it says “BPA free”, that does not mean it is toxin-free. Plastic is literally made from toxic oil with many other toxic chemicals added in as well. As you probably already know, plastic tends to leak those toxins into our foods and drinks, therefore it is always best to avoid using plastics whenever possible. Instead, your safest bet is to use glass dishes and containers to store foods and drinks.

Glass Storage Jars, Glass Containers and Glass Oven Safe Bakeware

  • Pay attention to what your silverware and cooking utensils are made of!
As we discussed above, plastics should be avoided and the same statements made above hold true for your silverware and utensils. You want to avoid ones made with toxins such as aluminum and teflon just as much as you want to avoid ones made of plastic. Your best bet is to use pure stainless steel and/or silver silverware and pure stainless steel, silver or wood cooking utensils.

Wooden Cooking Utensils and Stainless Steel Silverware

  • Step away from the aluminum foil and never look back!
Aluminum in general is extremely toxic and has been linked to many health issues and neurological diseases such as Alzheimer’s; as it gets trapped in our body, particularly in our brains. We don’t care what you are cooking that you think requires aluminum foil, there is a way around it. We have yet to find food that they typically say to wrap or cover in foil that has not cooked up fine without it. Generally you just cook it at a lower temperature for a longer time. You’ll figure things out if you really want to and it is definitely worth never using foil again. Some examples of simple swaps you can make include simply rubbing baked potatoes in an oil such as olive oil instead of wrapping it in aluminum foil, or cover foods in a casserole dish with a glass lid before baking.

Olive Oil, Glass Casserole Dishes and Ceramic Casserole Dishes with Lids

  • See you later traditional plastic baggies, silicone is safer!
As we already mentioned, plastic is never good for us so it’s best to avoid using it whenever possible. Silicone is still not completely non-toxic, but it is much safer than traditional plastics. They have even made squeezable silicone food pouches such as ones used for drinkable applesauce.

Reusable Silicone Food Storage Bags and Food Pouches

  • Toilet paper, paper towels, and napkins do not need to look pretty!
Extremely harsh and toxic chemicals are used to bleach and sanitize these products and as you can imagine, that is not healthy to say the least. You may purchase organic and/or unbleached paper towels, napkins and toilet paper, but they tend to be a bit more expensive. We can tell you that the cost is well worth reducing your exposure to these toxins.

Paper Towels, Toilet Paper and Napkins

  • No more nonstick pans, bake sheets, skillets and so on!
Teflon is simply nasty stuff that ends up leaking and chipping off into your food and it is actually completely unnecessary to begin with. Ceramic coated cookware is a much safer choice and doesn’t contain all the toxins that teflon coated products do. It can be difficult to find completely non-toxic pans, bakesheets and skillets, but any improvements are a great start! If possible, avoid using aluminum bake sheets as often as possible too. If you worry about food sticking, simply use coconut oil spray or whatnot to coat the dish or pan.

Ceramic Pots, Pans, Baking Sheets, Cake Pans, Skillets, and Coconut Oil Spray

  • Watch what you put on your pets!
Pet shampoos, flea collars, flea and tick repellents and so on are obviously not healthy and many of them actually include pesticides and other toxic chemicals. Instead, purchase natural pet care products and make your own non-toxic versions at home.

Pet Shampoos, Flea and Tick Treatments and Repellents

  • Go organic on all bedding, towels, drapes, shower curtains, carpeting, and clothing if possible!
It may sound silly, but our bedding (including our mattresses), towels, drapes, and clothing are packed full of toxins. They often even go as far as to use fire-retardant, particularly on children’s clothing, and claim it makes us safer. Uh, the toxins are guaranteed to harm us, but there is a huge chance we’ll never be caught in a fire. Instead, buy organic materials paying special attention to clothing especially for children considering that the dyes on their own are typically toxic. Either way, tight-fitted pajamas are always recommended as a safety precaution in the case of a fire as well.

Bedding, Drapes, Shower Curtains, Bath Towels, and Baby/Children’s Clothing

  • Switch to hemp products any chance you get!
Hemp is able to do everything plastic does, it can be used to build with, can be used to make clothing, bedding, fuel, food, medicine, paper products including feminine hygiene products, napkins, paper towels, printer paper, and so much more. Organic hemp can replace so many things, so we highly encourage the use of it.

Hemp How-To Books, Hemp Hurd, Playing Cards, Twine, Shoes, Reusable Coffee Filters, and Grow Mats

  • No more fertilizing your plants with toxins please!
Instead, you can use epsom salt, coffee grounds, worm castings, fish tank water, or you may purchase safe non-toxic fertilizers.

Epsom Salt, Natural Fertilizers and Earthworm Castings

  • You need houseplants and herbs growing in your life!
There are many plants, including edible herbs, that actually clean the air in your home for you. They say the right plants can remove up to 90% of the VOCs in your home! It’s like having little air filters all over, yet they look much better and many of them you can eat too! Rosemary, mint, aloe, basil, lavender, geranium, english ivy, jasmine, woodbine, coffee plant, dwarf banana, peace lily, chinese evergreen and various philodendrons are said to be some of the best although they all help!

Live Rosemary, Thyme, Oregano, Sage, Peppermint, Sweet Basil, Chives, Parsley, Aloe Vera, Arabica Coffee Plant, and Peace Lilies

  • Can you say Himalayan salt lamps please?
These lamps are great at neutralizing free radicals in the home and they look awesome too. We personally love these himalayan salt lamps and feel they are a great addition to the home.

    Himalayan Salt Lamps

  • Ditch the microwave and move on!
Microwaves are one of the worst inventions in my opinion. They zap out almost all of the nutrients in the food, they expose us to radiation and they encourage us to eat pre-made meals in plastic trays! We ditched ours years ago and guess what? We have figured out how to cook all those “microwave only” foods in the oven without even using aluminum foil. You can easily warm drinks back up on the stove at a low temperature if need be as well. Microwaves are a big no.
  • Either have the light on or off, no more dimmer switches!
Dimmer switches expose us to harmful rays, just ditch them.
  • Not all light bulbs are created equal!
This one is hard to keep up on as it seems like they keep going back and forth on which ones are safest. Typically we have found more and more saying LED bulbs are your safest bet. Do your own research and decide from there.

LED Bulbs, Strip Lights, Wireless Lights, and Night Lights

  • Invest in water filters for your sinks and showers if not a whole house filter!
As you probably know, our water is full of chemicals and toxic metals that are known to be harmful. We also know that anything that we put on our skin typically soaks into the blood stream within seven seconds. It’s not just our drinking water we need to worry about and what we absorb through our skin is something many people do not think about. Many people find that their skin conditions improve once they install a filter as well.

Whole House Water Filters, Faucet Filters and Shower Filters

  • No more leather polish please!
Again, too many toxins. You can use olive or coconut oil instead. Many people add orange or lemon peel to the olive or coconut oil to give it a great aroma and to further protect the leather. Another great bonus is that you’ll save money too.

    Olive Oil and Coconut Oil

  • Lady bugs and praying mantis’ can save your yard!
These bugs eat aphids and other pests in the yard so it’s good to have them around. You can purchase them in bulk and release them in your yard. If you get lucky, they keep breeding so you don’t have to keep buying them.

Live Lady Bugs, Live Praying Mantis’, Live Praying Mantis Eggs, and Praying Mantis Hatching Habitats

These are just some of the changes that you can make in and around the home to live a much less toxic life. However, we still need to discuss another major culprit and that is what is hiding in your beauty and hygiene products.

Beauty and Hygiene Hacks

  • Avoid toxic makeup and never look back!
Unless your makeup is free of toxic chemicals already, we are preaching at you! Pretty much all of the mainstream makeup companies are guilty of filling your makeup with known toxins and other nasty ingredients that lead to a host of health issues including: hormonal imbalances, cancers, immune system deficiencies and so much more. There are, however, amazing companies out there that choose to go toxin-free and utilize nature instead. Black tea mascaras and fruit-pigmented foundations are just some examples of what is available. Do be sure and do your research please! Makeup has been linked to too many issues, exactly why we highly encourage everyone to make the switch or go without makeup period.

  • Perfume and cologne are not your friends, but essential oils are!
We know, we know, most of us love to smell good and the good news is that you still can, even without using store-bought toxic perfume and cologne! Unfortunately perfume and cologne are packed full of toxins that linger in the air and on things such as clothing, furniture, carpeting, and draperies. We also can’t go without mentioning the fact that they soak directly into our bloodstream and find their way into our lungs. If you’re up to it, you can make your own perfume or cologne by utilizing essential oils instead. You need to be knowledgeable about essential oils in order to safely mix and dilute them, but it can be done fairly easily. It isn’t too hard to do, and for us, we’ve had some turn out great and others not so much. It is important to understand the different notes each essential oil carries (highs, mids and lows) and which essential oils mix well. Many people prefer roll-on perfume bottles so they may easily apply the perfume or cologne directly where intended, while others prefer spray bottles. Either way you choose to go, always make sure that the bottles for your perfume are glass as plastic may absorb the essential oils and may also leak toxins into the perfume or cologne.

Essential Oil and Glass Roll-On Bottles

  • Feminine hygiene products are our enemy!
We cannot stress enough how absurd it really is to intentionally put toxins in and on our privates! Women are typically exposed to more toxins than men considering our use of beauty products and with the use of feminine hygiene products. Then you add in the fact that women also add more toxins down below with the use of toilet paper. Yikes! Many of these toxins have been directly linked to hormonal imbalances, cancers, infections, and more. Why would we want to put toxins on/in our privates? Seriously, who ever thought this was a good idea? If you are able to make the switch, you will want to at the least look for unbleached products and of course organic is always best too. Many women are turning back to feminine sponges (yes, sponges), and others are turning to period cups. Many period cups are silicone so they are still not perfect, but definitely better.

    Pads, Tampons and Menstrual Cups

  • Be careful of that nail polish and nail polish remover!
Just as with makeup, these are full of horrific toxins such as acetone and no the acetone-free ones are still not good for you. You may purchase clay and fruit-pigmented polishes instead, or if you feel up to it you may make your own. We have yet to find a great nail polish remover alternative, but for us it’s still not worth recommending that you soak in the bad stuff.

    Nail Polish and Top Coats

  • You don’t have to stink, but do toss your current deodorant!
Most deodorants are full of toxins including aluminum. Aluminum, as we already discussed, is already known to cause many health issues such as Alzheimers, and many scientists claim to have linked aluminum to many neurological disorders as well as increased breast cancer rates. Keep in mind that simply because a deodorant says it’s aluminum free, this does not mean it’s toxin-free, so read the labels and do your research! Luckily there are many great alternative deodorants available, or you can make your own at home.

  • Toothpastes, flosses and mouthwashes are not to be overlooked here!
Most toothpastes, flosses and mouthwashes contain toxins unless they are made by a reputable natural company and even then, you must carefully read the labels. Many toothpastes are known to contain fluoride and many studies have shown that fluoride is clearly a toxin. We have also began seeing floss that is coated in fluoride too, so do read the labels carefully. Mouthwashes are typically toxic offenders as well. The great news is that there are safe naturals brands and you may also make your own toothpastes and mouthwashes without using toxins. Many people swear by oil pulling as well as clay and charcoal alternatives so we encourage you to research these options and highly encourage you to ditch the toxins.

  • Make your own soaps or buy only natural non-toxic soaps!
Most soaps contain many toxins, therefore you can either make your own or purchase natural non-toxic soaps. We love liquid castile soaps as they are extremely versatile and work amazing. If you’d rather, making your own can actually be fun and you’ll feel confident that you know exactly what is in it.

    Liquid Castile Soap

  • Hair dye just sounds toxic doesn’t it?
Too many chemicals go into this stuff, either learn to embrace your natural color or use alternatives such as tea to color your hair. These toxins sit right on your scalp which covers what? Your brain, that is what. There are a few brands that are much safer than others, but we have yet to find one that is completely safe.

    Hair Dye and Henna

  • Acrylic and press-on nails are out, all natural is in!
Sorry ladies, there are no safe fake nails period. Acrylic nails are full of toxins and even the press-on nails use toxic glue and plastic. Learn to love your natural nails and pamper them so you won’t even want fake nails in the first place! Diet and nutrition are extremely important for healthy nails and low levels of Vitamin D and Calcium are commonly found in people with weak brittle nails. Your nails are bone, therefore if your nails seem to continue to have issues even after treatment and dietary changes, you may want to have them evaluated by a professional to rule out underlying problems. For natural nail and cuticle care, Vitamin E Oil, Shea Butter and Coconut Oils are all great for the nails and cuticles when applied topically. Although most people would agree these are some of the best, there are many other natural remedies used for nail and cuticle health as well so don’t go back to toxic concoctions simply because one of these didn’t quite cut it for you. Try different butters and oils until you find your match!

Coconut Oil, Shea Butter, and Vitamin E Oil

  • Not all hair accessories are created equal!  We know it may sound petty, but even your hair accessories can be toxic. Look for natural ones made of materials such as: wood, bone, organic cotton, and/or organic hemp. Try using hair sticks too! It’s worth making these changes considering all of the little bits of toxins we are exposed to quickly add up; especially when it’s things we use on a daily basis.

Hair Ties, Head Bands, Head Wraps, Hair Sticks, and Barrettes

  • Speaking of hair…what are your combs and brushes made of? Just as with the hair accessories we discussed, you want to look for combs and brushes made from the same materials in order to be as safe as possible. Why use toxic plastic combs and brushes on your scalp and hair when you could actually give your hair a spa treatment instead? Bone and wood combs and brushes actually benefit the hair simply because of their natural oils that help keep the hair and scalp healthy. Besides that, they feel wonderful on the scalp as well! Do try to look for any rough edges on the wood or bone, as it may tear the hair if they are not smoothed out well.

Wood and Bone Combs and Brushes

  • Your bath water may be harming you, but it doesn’t have to!
Bath water is full of toxins as we discussed earlier, but you can neutralize the chlorine and reduce the other toxins by using baking soda. To learn exactly how to neutralize the chlorine and reduce other toxins in your bath water, please click HERE. At the very least, we recommend adding baking soda and epsom salt. • Sunblock can be worse for you than the sun!
Most sunblocks are full of toxins that soak directly into your blood stream. You may either make your own natural sunblock or be very particular when buying a pre-made one. Carrot Seed Oil, Raspberry Seed Oil and Avocado Oil are just some of the amazing natural sunscreens that you may use in a homemade sunscreen. Honestly, the very best way to protect yourself from the sun is through your diet! Yes, your diet plays a major role in your skins ability to block the harmful UV rays. Internal sunscreen is a must for everyone so go and research which foods have this ability and make them a part of your regular diet.

Sunblock, Carrot Seed Oil, Red Raspberry Seed Oil, and Avocado Oil

  • Lotions can be full of toxins and unnecessary ingredients too!
Lotions are typically full of toxins, and again we ask you, why would anyone want to slather themselves in toxins? You may easily make your own natural lotion or purchase trusted-natural brands before purchasing.

Lotion, Body Cream, Hand Cream, Baby Lotion, and body Butter

  • Your lips can survive without toxic chapsticks and lip balms, seriously!
In fact, many people say that their store-bought and homemade chapsticks and lip balms blow away any others they have ever tried! Of course organic ingredients are always the best and with a great product, most will say they hardly even need to use it because it works so great! Look for non-comedogenic ingredients that moisturize, prevent moisture loss and ones that are great at protecting the skin. Many manufacturers and people at home add essential oils such as lavender to help kill germs and to reap the essential oils other amazing benefits.

    Lip Balms

We’re sure there are more toxic offenders that we could add to the beauty section, but we’re also pretty sure that you get the picture. Below we will go over many of the first aid, health and medicinal products in which we have alternatives.

First Aid, Health and Medicine Hacks

  • Natural remedies can and do work!
For pretty much any toxin filled first aid product or “medicine”, there is an alternative, or shall we say in many cases there are much older proven methods. The natural world can help heal and at times, prevent many ailments such as: skin conditions, wounds, scars, depression, anxiety, other neurological disorders, hormonal imbalances and disorders, pain, inflammation, immune system disorders, illnesses, sleep disorders, gastrointestinal disorders, and so much more. We’ll just stop there because honestly, we could write a book on it if we wanted to. Anything from herbs, essential oils, clays, hydrogen peroxide, to coconut oil and such; nature has something to offer. Essential oils alone are one of the easiest ways to help yourself naturally. Simply diffusing essential oils for Aromatherapy provides you with a vast array of health benefits.

    Essential Oils

  • Elderberry remedies kick booty!
If you want to boost your immune system or prevent illness, elderberries can help do that and have been used as far back Ancient Egypt. Hippocrates, also known as “the father of medicine”, said that elderberries were his “medicine chest” and claimed it to be one of the best medicines ever discovered. Elderberries boost the immune system, fight infections and illnesses along with so many other benefits. You may purchase elderberry syrup, elderberry gummies, fresh berries, or dried berries as well as jams, teas and wines. If you choose to make your own products or even harvest your own berries, please do thoroughly research the process as elderberries are typically not eaten raw and you must make sure no stems or leaves get into the product.

  • Vitamin C is very important!
Vitamin C has proven over and over that it is one of the best defenses against illnesses. Vitamin C can help prevent illnesses, help you recover faster and can overall keep your immune system functioning at optimal levels. Getting Vitamin C through your diet is always best, but for many people it’s just not feasible to get enough through diet alone, therefore you may purchase Vitamin C supplements, drops, or powders may be added to foods and drinks or put into capsules and taken as a supplement. As with any vitamins, always make sure they come from a reliable source.

    Vitamin C Powders and Supplements

  • Avoid antibiotics whenever possible, instead use natural ones!
Prescription antibiotics have been proven to destroy the healthy gut bacteria that our bodies so desperately need and they have been proven to actually strengthen the very bacteria they intend to kill. The bacteria end up mutating and becoming resistant to the antibiotics, thus making the antibiotics useless and the bacteria become what are known as superbugs. Having healthy gut bacteria is detrimental to a strong immune system, a properly functioning digestive system, healthy skin, good sleep, a healthy brain, and our overall health in general. Healthy gut bacteria rely upon many of these very things themselves to function properly, therefore lifestyle and dietary choices are extremely important. Garlic and onions are just a few examples of natural antibiotics which may easily be incorporated into your diet, whereas others may need to be taken in supplement form. To find out about The Top 25 Effective Natural Antibiotics, please click HERE.
  • Understand what’s hiding in vaccines and educate yourself as much as possible!
We won’t get into this one too much, as we understand this one is quite the touchy subject, but whether or not you are for or against vaccines, the fact is that many of the ingredients are labeled as known toxins and carcinogens by the CDC, FDA and/or EPA. We will, however, highly encourage you to thoroughly research vaccines by: reading in-depth double-blind peer-reviewed studies that are preferably conducted by independent labs that are free of any ties with the vaccine manufacturers, the FDA, or the CDC; by requesting the actual manufacturers inserts that are found in every single vaccine package and thoroughly read them while paying very close attention to their use of wording; by researching the ingredients contained within the various vaccines thoroughly; by talking with and asking important questions to honest doctors and other professionals; and of course by educating yourself about the truth on the diseases in which some vaccinate for and the differences in how our bodies process known toxins depending on how we contact them. Meaning ingestion vs inhalation vs absorption vs injection. There are major differences in how our body handles and processes the toxins. Many people have no idea that the manufacturers vaccine inserts state that they have not been tested for their effects on fertility, have not been tested for their carcinogenic nor mutagenic effects, and they go on to list horrific side effects that occur way more than they like to admit. Either way, vaccines do for a fact contain known toxins that on their own are deemed unsafe. Be truly informed, then you can make your decision. If you don’t want to vaccinate but find yourself being forced to like so many are, you can begin detoxing immediately and will want to focus on products that are good at removing heavy metals and aluminum. You can’t detox it all, but it’s worth trying most definitely.
  • Avoid prescription drugs whenever possible!
We understand that there are times when prescription drugs are deemed necessary, but if you just have a sinus infection or something that isn’t a big deal, let it run its course and utilize natural remedies. For many, simply diffusing the correct essential oils does the trick on its own. It’s always a great idea to take preventative measures such as regularly diffusing the proper essential oils, drinking plenty of clean water, eating healthy, exercising, getting good sleep, and so on. Incorporating herbs into your daily regime is always a great idea and you can do this by eating them, drinking teas, taking them in capsules, and so on. We are not encouraging anyone to stop taking their medications as we are not doctors and you should always consult your doctor before stopping any medications as it can be dangerous to quit.

    Teas and Maca Root Powders

  • Make your own first aid spray or buy a natural one!
Many medicines used for cuts, scrapes, bruises, bug bites, rashes and so on are full of toxic nonsense. You can make your own first aid spray from just a few simple ingredients that are completely non-toxic and are very effective. Many of the pre-made and homemade recipes use witch hazel as the base and pretty much all of them utilize proper essential oils and other herbs.

Witch Hazel and Ravensara Essential Oil

  • Regularly drink lemon water or lemon ginger water and/or tea!
This stuff can help your digestion, help detox you and is amazing for the skin! Many people add turmeric in order to aid in the detoxing and digestion. It never hurts to add honey to the warm tea (not hot) to boost the benefits as well.

    Various Ginger Teas

  • Wheatgrass is amazing, say hello!
Wheatgrass is packed full of nutrients and is an amazing addition to the diet. You may purchase wheatgrass powder and add it to your smoothies or put it into capsules. Do research wheatgrass to decide if it’s right for you, what dosage you need and how to utilize it. Many people buy fresh wheatgrass and even grow their own indoors.

    Wheatgrass Powders

  • Exercise, yoga, deep breathing, and meditation can work miracles!
As you already know, exercising is a must for a healthy body, but many do not realize that it is also one of the best ways to help the body detox. As you sweat, your body is excreting toxins and as you keep moving this aids your digestive system in eliminating waste more effectively. Constipation allows toxins to build up and remain within the body far too long which can lead to health issues. Yoga, deep breathing and meditation are amazing for stress relief which is also important for our health and well-being. If our body is stressed, it cannot work at its optimal performance.

Yoga Mats, Yoga Sets and Yoga Mat Cleaners

  • Say goodbye to toxic chest rubs!
Vicks and other similar products are full of toxins, you’d be better off if you ditch them now. You may make your own chest rub with a few simple ingredients or you may purchase natural non-toxic ones as well.

    Chest Rubs

  • Avoid excess caffeine, alcohol and tobacco!
Don’t worry, you can still enjoy small amounts of caffeine and many teas and coffees are available in caffeine-free.

    Caffeine-Free Teas and Coffees

  • Processed foods, drinks and candies are a no go!
As you probably know, most processed foods are packed full of toxins and man-made ingredients. Many of the ingredients have been directly linked to a host of health problems, diseases and disorders. Just say no or make your own crackers, chips, pop, candy, and so on if you must have it.
  • Drink smoothies daily!
No, not the ones filled with corn syrup, artificial flavoring and such; we’re talking real fruits, veggies, juice, chia seeds, ground flax seeds, spirulina, kelp, wheatgrass, honey, cinnamon, turmeric, ginger, and so on. Healthy, detoxing and refreshing!

Chia Seeds, Ground Flaxseeds, Cinnamon, Honey, and Turmeric

  • Not all vitamins and minerals are created equal!
Of course the best way to get our vitamins and minerals is through our diet, but most people do not get enough through diet alone. Many vitamin supplements have been found to contain little to none of the very vitamin they claim to be and/or other ingredients are found hiding in them. It is important to research the company and look into their sourcing of the vitamins. You may purchase pre-made vitamins or you may purchase them in powder form along with empty capsules to make your own and save money too.

    Herbs, Spices, Vitamins, and Supplements
